The Match is back for the first time in 2023, and this time it’s a tournament of champions.
Four-time NBA champs Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the “Splash Brothers,” will face off against reigning Super Bowl champions Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas on Thursday.
Both Curry and Mahomes have played The Match once before, but neither has come away with a win. Curry’s golf skills are impressive, as he went viral for a terrific 97-yard shot last year and posted respectable scores during two appearances on the Korn Ferry Tour. Mahomes has plenty of golf experience himself and should be able to anchor the Chiefs’ duo.
This will be the first appearance in The Match for Thompson and Kelce, who are larger-than-life figures in their respective sports but will try to avoid being humbled by the golf course like so many athletes have.
Regardless of which pairing comes out on top, the No Kid Hungry charity will benefit from the proceeds.
