Carlos Adames vs. Julian Williams date, start time, odds, schedule & card for 2023 boxing fight
As he waits to face WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo, Carlos Adames has been able to prove that he is a problem in the division. Looking to continue that trend, the interim WBC champion defends his belt against Julian Williams on June 24.
The event will air on Showtime in the U.S. from The Armory in Minnesota.
Adames turned pro in 2015. The Dominican boxer defeated Joshua Conley in 2018 to win the NABF super welterweight title but failed to beat Patrick Teixeira in 2019 for the interim WBO super welterweight belt. He has since rebounded with four wins, his last bout being a knockout win over Juan Macia Montiel for the interim WBC belt in December.
The 29-year-old is now ready to make a statement in his maiden defence of the interim belt.

“I’ve trained hard for this fight, and I’m ready to defend my interim WBC middleweight title against Julian Williams, who we all know is a very tough fighter,” said Adames. “I’ve worked tirelessly to earn my way in the sport, and I’m ready to prove I belong at the top of the middleweight division.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skills on SHOWTIME, and I’m determined to put on a great performance for the fans. On June 24, The Armory in Minneapolis will be electrifying. I’m coming to win.”
Williams, 33, will be a tall task for Adames. “J Rock” turned pro in 2010 and has 16 wins via knockout. After failing to capture the IBF super welterweight title against Charlo in 2016, Williams won five in a row, including a unanimous decision win over Jarrett Hurd to win the IBF and WBA super welterweight titles.
Losing the belts to Jeison Rosario in his next fight, Williams has gone 1-1 since. He was upset by Wladimir Hernandez before outpointing Rolando Wenceslao Mansilla in November.
“Training has been going great, and I’m extremely well-prepared for this fight,” said Williams. “I’ve just been grinding and making the best of everything that I have.
“I haven’t seen that much of him, so I’m preparing for anything Adames can bring. A win on June 24 would mean everything. This is what I strive for. It’s been a little choppy, but I’m just looking forward to a tough fight in Minneapolis.”
