The 7-seed Northwestern and 2-seed UCLA survived their first-round matchups on Thursday, March 16, adding another name to their dance card as they plow forward.
Northwestern defeated Boise State 75-67, with four players scoring in double figures. Boo Buie had 22 points and five assists. Chase Audige and Ty Berry combined for another 33. The 75 points are the most the Wildcats have recorded in their last six games.
UCLA defeated UNC Asheville 86-53 after claiming the contest in the first four minutes with a 14-0 lead. They never fell below a 19-point lead in the second half, either, thanks to Jaime Jaquez Jr. This win was the 30th of the Bruins’ season, a mile-marker they haven’t hit since 2017.
