U.S. Women’s Open purse, payout breakdown: How much prize money will the winner make?
The LPGA is working hard to bump its prize money toward PGA Tour levels, and this year’s U.S. Open represents a significant step forward for women’s golf.
The purse last year sat at $10 million and the winner, Minjee Lee, was able to cash a $1.8 million check after winning at Southern Pines for her second major championship.
This year, Lee and the rest of the 156-player field teeing off at Pebble Beach Golf Links have a shot at more.
The 2023 U.S. Women’s Open will have a record-setting purse of $11 million, the biggest purse in tour history, as they aim for total equivalency.

The $11 million purse is the most of the five major tournaments scheduled for the LPGA Tour in 2023:
The Chevron Championship had a purse of $5.1 million, while the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship boasted a $10 million purse.
The Evian Championship is slated to host a $6.5 million purse, while the AIG Women’s Open is set at a purse of $7.3 million.

The 2023 U.S. Women’s Open winner will take home a check of $2 million, which is a nice boost from the $1.8 million winner’s check cashed by Minjee Lee last year.
